Here are some photographs of vintage Finnish 1930s silk shirts from various manufacturers. Although made in Finland, the raw material was naturally imported from e.g. Great Britain. According to their catalogs, tricot silk shirts costed around 1.5 to 2 times more than tricot cotton shirts. The trend of buying a silk shirt instead of a cotton poplin shirt in Finland seems to have been started around 1935 when the first silk shirts were made available in great quantities. However according to literature there were many manufacturers in Europe at that time and it was somewhat common to use dark silk shirts with light coloured trousers. (The second shirt was available in grey, maroon and blue).
