Vintage Electric Shavers?

I wondered if anyone here fancied vintage electric shavers at all, since we have so many wet shaving enthusiasts among us. I often find myself wondering how effective these devices were, as my granddad and my wife's grandfather both swear by electric shavers and have done so since the 1950's. My granddad has been using one since he was in the Korean War.
I've got an ad on my bathroom wall for an electric shaver, and I found that same model on eBay once, but didn't buy it unfortunately.
Anyway, anyone into this and can offer any words on the topic?

They worked better on some chins than others. Best results were with blonde or grey hair. And it depends whether it was a screen or a rotating blade. Some find the rotating blade variety irritating. Of course, you can't really use the old ones any more as the parts are not available.

In the 1950's many men used electric as a touch up razor in the afternoons, before going out to dinner or to a late meeting. In other words, it didn't have to do a major job. Key issue; you needed to use an electric exclusively, for at least 14 days so it adjusts your skin. That's when they worked best. This is still the case.

These days I find electric does a better job than a blade but they are a pain to use. Lots of going over the same areas.
