Before I go dropping one of my valuable shirts to any alterations place, I was wondering if there was a specialist in London who I may feel more confident taking it to? [huh]

Had you simply asked "I'd like a recommendation for a competent alterations tailor in London"; I could offer one or two recs.

Th one palce I could think of that I hear talked about in relation to cintage regularly is Jeeves of Belgravia (I think) - if I remember rightly the oldest dry cleaner in town. Supposedly the very best, Though I'm sure you pay for it. I've never had any qualms leaving in my stuff to be altered by any competent place, though I've never had much more than a waist taken in / out or the length dealing with on a pair of trousers.
