Vintage clip art?

Found a new antique store I had never been in before this evening and I chanced upon this.

A printer's block used for spot illustrations whenever they were called for. Engraved copper with a wood block backing. I had never seen one before, but the shop keeper said they were really not too hard to find.
Just what I needed,...another thing to collect! :eusa_doh:

Pretty Neat!

I have done some etching (i think its called), fun to see these.

You could clean them w alcohol and soft cloth to get that old printink off,
and get a smoother print. Do you have more than these two?

Only the 2 so far, but if I see any more of interest I will get them. They do need a good cleaning, and I should try printing ink like Speedball for any future prints. I could see how some of these might be incorporated into computer printing jobs to add a unique touch.

Clip Art

Sometimes you will find clip art at big art supply stores. I think the big publisher is Dover. Any way, there are some really cool pieces that are the advertising type similar to the tight pinch block. It is one of the things i love to see in old ads like from a newspaper , they have a drawing of a guy in a hurry, or the mom in the kitchen with the poodle skirt.

Similar to the drawings on the 2 sets of cards with the Monopoly game!

Makes me happy!
