Hi all,

Just wanted to present my new aquistion. It almost has the style of a half-belt, at least to me. I especially like the bi-swing back. I haven't received it yet, but I'm hoping after I feel the leather I'll be able to deterimine if it is horsehide. Anyhoo, has anyone seen this Bormcolt brand before and happen to know anything about the company? Maybe what years they were in business.

This jacket appears to be vintage, so I'd really like to try and narrow down a decade for this jacket. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Thanks coffee - I just tried doing some quick research on google, but found diddly squat about that company. I'm going to try and snap some photos of it being worn once it's in my hands. Fingers crossed it fits well.

Nice find. The jacket dates to the 1940s, most likely mid to late '40s judging by the style of Talon zip and construction of the jacket. I suspect it is horsehide, but there is no way of being sure without scientific analysis. There are references to Borman Sportswear on Google, including a reference to a legal case involving the firm in 1942.

rockabilly;

Here is my rationale for your jacket being horsehide. The manufacturer's name is Borman Sportswear Co. The model of the jacket is the Bormcolt. Colt meaning (are you ready for this?) young horse. If the jacket was cowhide, the model would be Bormsteer or even Bumsteer.

See, and ButteMT61 thought I was a retard. HaHa!

I hope all you Loungers have a great day.

Regards,
