I got the Brent Adventurer today. It's my size, it has nice lines, and it's beat to hell. It's got a big rip in the back that someone restitched, as well as one up in front.Someone's stitched the sweatband back in as well. Oh well. Now I have something to wear out in the woods that'll look nice.

It's got a 2-1/2 raw edge brim that looks like it was made to be worn down in both the front and back. It's a nice lightwight felt.

I took some steam and my hat brush to it.
Now it has some shape, and isn't quite as dirty.

Ah, the time when you could go to Montgomery Ward for a decent hat. Lee made lots of hats for them. Lee had its own Adventure not very stealthy of them to produce nearly the same thing for Ward's. :D
They weren't the top of the line but let me tell you that a week doesn't go by that I don't use my Adventurer. You can also freak out your hat wearing friends because they can actually roll up for an adventure trip. Probably not now since you spent so much time on it though. ;)
Adventure in it well. :eusa_clap

Regards,

J

I've been doing some work on this.
I sewed up the tree inch tear where the brim meets the crown in the back.

I also steamed out the wrinkles, and in the process LIT IT ON FIRE.

yeah... the sweatband has that plastic backing to keep the sweat off the felt, but on this one, it was very deteriorated. When I steamed the outside of the hat, the plastic ignited, burning the backside of the sweatband and turning part of the frontside into crunchy bacon.

Oh well.

I'm going to sew up the hole in the front again today. After a couple of wearings, the stitching that the previous owner did has started to disintegrate. It's going to be fun keeping the brim on this thing. Oh well, now I have something better than a ball cap for when I go hiking.

An aptly named hat. Think of it as your Millenium Falcon... an old piece of junk, but it's your old piece of junk, and you love it! ("Easy baby, hold together.")

Great beater Dinerman. Have fun with it.
