Does anyone know how to unflatten velvet?

I have a Biba dress that is made of velvet but I'm too scared to wear it as I know from experience that sitting on velvet does it no good at all.

I have a panne velvet skirt which has had the velvet flattened horribly where I sat down in it .. who knew you weren't supposed to sit down while wearing it lol

It truly depends on the fiber content. Stretch velvet doesn't crush as badly, if at all. Silk velvet with give you some problems. All you can do is have it professionaly pressed and be careful.

There are pressing boards for velvet at some sewing stores. They are pin boards. Lots of "pins" that you lay the fabric on and steam.

I've had a bit of luck with a fine tooth comb, and steaming (carefully) from the underside of the fabric.
