Vanson Enfield

I've never seen a 689h.
But, once you see Vanson's competition weight leather, nothing else will do.
It's the only leather I want between my skin and the tarmac in the event of an unscheduled get-off while riding.
I'm pretty sure it could stop a bullet (well maybe a .22)
Construction of my Enfield is perfect.

I inquired this morning about the wait for an Enfield from the factory. To my surprise and disappointment, it is 2-6 months.

Does anyone know a dealer who has them in stock?

As an alternative, I am considering a Schott 689h, which appears virtually identical, except it is made of horsehide (which I would prefer) and with a quilted lining (which I do not care for - too hot?). I cannot tell if it has a windflap.

Also, I have found one for almost an identical price to the Enfield. And I could actually wear it this season.

Any thoughts?

Vanson is telling us to tell our customers that it's 3-4 months on new orders, but we've found it's actually closer to 2 months. Give us a call at (206) 550-3545. Our Enfield jackets are the same price as going through Vanson direct and we provide a fit jacket (a Vanson Model B...same fit!) prior to placing the final order so that we're sure to nail the fit for you!

Something I've always wondered about: if you have to order "one size up", wouldn't that make the sleeves way too long? If you were ordering from somewhere like Thurston, I'd imagine they would take care of that kind of thing, but right off an Ebay site? Just curious.

New Brown Enfield in Cowhide

Hello All,

I know that the Vanson Enfield jacket has been discussed at length in this thread and others on the FL, so I won't elaborate here too much. I just wanted to share with you a few comments and some pics of my new dark brown Enfield in cowhide. BTW, I liked the Vanson Enfield style so much that I just sold another Enfield in cordovon HH and now replaced it with a dark brown Enfield. I purchased my new brown Enfield directly from Vanson Inc. Because they hadn't updated their pricing on their website and computers, when I ordered it I saved 15%...Yeah. As many of you know, the dark brown color is a 15% upgrade from the black color.

Compared to the HH Enfield I just sold, this new brown Enfield is heavier (7.2 lbs), thicker hide, stiffer, same liner, and sizing is identical. The stiffer brown cowhide may be because its spanking new and needs some breaking in. To summarize, I'm thinking that the dark brown color may be more versatile as I can wear it all day long riding my Harley, then wear it later in the evening to a musical with the wife and not get unwanted stares. Below are some pics.

The Enfield is a great looking jacket, almost bought one myself. Close to the same style as Alexander leathers Roadster and Lost Worlds Ryder. Both which I ended up with.

One of the great looking jackets - but I'm not a rider, I'd like one in their light weight leather - anything over 2.5 oz weight doesn't work for my lifestyle.
