Well, a while back I picked up this early Vanson Model B. Like the jacket a lot, but it’s just not my color and it didn’t really find it’s way into the rotation. Could have sold it I suppose, but saw a thread where somebody dyed their Langlitz a richer brown and it came out great, so I figured what the hell. The goal was to try and replicate some of the great midnight blue jackets that have been around lately. Instead, I guess because the original color more red than imagined, I have arrived at what I’m calling Midnight Plum, which I’m actually digging a lot! Still need some post-dye conditioning and polish the zippers where some dye bled over, but here you go:

Thanks! That first swan of dye was a real “oh shit” moment, but it turned out to be a lot of fun and I’ll wear the hell out of it now!

It looks almost black to me. I think it came out OK, but I would have preferred to keep it original. That tan was nice. But as long as you're wearing it more, that's what counts.

Dang man that’s hard to do! From caramel to dark chocolate! I tried this exact same thing with an old Bates. It went from caramel to a blueberry. Well done man. You nailed it!

The photos may not show it well, but the color is actually a deep purple with some black/navy undertones, so maybe closer to your blueberry after all! Maybe I should call it Le Noir Aubergine, which is worlds better than blueberry. :) Will try to get some good close ups that capture it. Oh, here’s one:
