How fascinating. The woman who owned the pace would have been barely 20 when she left France. Maybe she held onto the idea of returning some day, but could never do it.

The Wrigley family left a fully furnished mansion (dripping with windows and fixtures by Tiffany) on Chicago's Lincoln Park go vacant for over 50 years. Seems there was an attempted kidnapping during the depression and they moved to an apartment building which offered more security. Caretakers lived in the coach house and kept the place up but no Wrigley ever stepped foot in the place even though they lived less than a mile away.
