USN Alpaca lined vest - any info on this style?

Real McCoy's have a pretty sweet alpaca lined cotton vest in their latest collection. I've been after something like this for a while, although I'll be honest - the price is something of a barrier!

I'm struggling to find much info about this vest though. Firstly, I can't find any other makers of it anywhere - Buzz Ricksons do something similar, but all sold out now unfortunately. Anyone know of anyone who does their own version?

Secondly, is this even a real, historically accurate style? I have seen photos of guys (USMC mainly) wearing similar ones, but none have pockets. Difficult to pin down the exact colours used as well.

Pike Bros do one much cheaper...Aero sell them.

To my knowledge, only Japanese makers make real alpaca lined deck vest and none of those are siginificantly cheaper than a Real McCoy's but there are cheaper alternatives lined with wool or synthetic.
