Alright!

This is a jacket that I've been eyeballing for quite some time. I almost purchased one from another maker, but then I discovered that US-A fabricates a model with a one piece back. That, and Shaul at US-A was awesome and answered all my emails within 24 hours; which I cannot say for some others. So, US-A gets my business and I ordered the G-8 in goat.

But wait! The goat is just the trial jacket! Ohhh yeahhhh.... If the fit is good, the goat goes back and the horsehide gets ordered (Grin) my first HH jacket.

Good for you. U.S. Authentic makes great jackets. I just bought their G-1. Shaul is very responsive to your questions.
Hope yours turns out the way you like.

I've always liked the G-8 design. I have a Lost Worlds "Raider" jacket (a G-8) and it's a cool jacket which is practical, stylish and comfortable.
Good luck with your US-A G-8 order and please post pics once it arrives.

Ok, I'm thinking that I need to add about 2 inches to the length and 1/2 inch to the sleeves. Sorry for the odd angle of the photos, hard to do on my own. Also, the jacket is holding the packaging folds a bit so the sleeves look weird in on the back photo.

Comments? And if the jacket looks bad, please tell me so, and I'll abandon the idea.

Just noticed that the left sleeve looks longer, it was snagged on my watch. The right hand sleeve is a more accurate representation.

I was under the impression that these jackets were supposed to fit a little longer, sort of like the Cockpit Oil Driller. This jacket measures in at 26" down the back. Normally I shoot for a 27 to 27.5" back. I may add a little as it feels short in the front to me.

IMO it looks more or less acceptable as is but would maybe add 1" to body and sleeve lengths.

Very nice jacket! Is there any padding or insulation in the lining?

I agree with you on the length… another 1.5 to 2 inches would fit better, considering the height of the side straps. And the sleeves are a little short for that jacket, perhaps 3/4 inch too short.

Ah! Good to hear you all are in line with my thinking about the size. The goat is heavy and I would compare the feel to my G&B G-1 but a little heavier through the arms, and with leather cuffs of course. For reference, my G&B G-1 is heavier than my Cockpit G-1. My Cockpit 'almost' feels like lambskin to me. This G-8 jacket feels really good once I got the size got nailed down, and after some tweaking, is going to feel even better I recon; I really like it and am looking forward to the final product. This jacket is a 42. I tried a 44 initially and was swimming in it... I have a 42" chest exactly. BTW, the back photo is with the jacket unzipped. While zipped it is more conforming to the back.

Shaul (awesome guy) has been great to work with, and sending our boxes back and forth between the US and France to try on the different sizes has been clockwork timing. He's really the poster boy of good customer service, awesome turn-around times and a true business model for others to follow. Courteous and polite, he has really made this entire process for me hassle free. I have no problem with the cost of a custom G-8 jacket because he really goes above and beyond To make sure you're happy with what you want.

Good stuff! Though I could always imagine myself in a Nieupot or Spad XIII, volunteering with the Lafayette Escadrille! Although, if that were today, I'd probably get shot down. :)

I picked up a US Authentic G8 on Ebay. It is NWOT and the leather type is not declared. It just says US made of imported leather and the seller did not know either. Will your HH jacket be in a mid brown almost caramel brown colour? Cannot tell if my jacket is cow or horsehide. Either way the leather is substantial, it is well made and I am thrilled with the quality. Got lucky on the fit as well.
