Because my unworn old stock Barbisio was lonely! This will be its stingy-brimmed buddy. I'm very excited about this one, too. Dinerman said a vintage Borsalino in my size would come around, and as if summoned, it did.

It was listed badly as a derby, and the word Borsalino was only mentioned in passing in the auction description. Got it for just barely over $60.00, and that includes shipping. I'm questioning the "unworn" designation only because there are initials stamped on the sweatband, but judging by the photographs, it wasn't worn very much.

This is an "Original House" one meant for exporting, complete with the original Rogers Peet box. All I know about Rogers Peet is that it opened on November 6th, 1874. Anyone know when they closed? Is it possible to date the hat with the images provided below?

Better photographs when I receive the hat.

see- told you.
Good luck on it, It looks like that's going to be a fantastic hat, and the price stayed in a sane realm. Good one.

I just had to use eBay's tool to obtain the seller's contact information because I hadn't heard from him and my emails have gone unanswered. I left him a message and he returned my call within ten minutes. Turns out he's been on vacation for the past two weeks and just sent the hat out "a day and a half ago." I was very polite and thanked him for following up by phone, but good grief! Common courtesy would dictate that you'd let buyers know ahead of time that you're going to be unreachable for half a month.

Common Courtesy

The thing about common courtesy is that it's a lot like common sense. They just ain't that "common" anymore.
Like bespoke suits, hats, and shoes as well as an appreciation for Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and a well-made Manhatten, some things should never go out of style.
BTW, I picked up a vintage Stetson Homburg on EBay a couple of months ago. Nice navy blue hat in excellent condition. To wear when it's cooler.
