I received this as a bulletin from Frock Me Vintage on myspace and thought I would pass it on:

"Channel 4 are making a documentary about people who have a strong affinity with other eras – particularly the 1950s and before. We are looking for people who are really dedicated to their chosen era; people who eat the food, read the books, wear the clothes, listen to the music and live in a flat/house of their ideal period. If that sounds like you we’d love to talk with you. Please call Sally on 020 7874 6678 or email s.hewitt@mavericktv.co.uk."

I got in touch with her a short while ago, but I was deemed not extreme enough for the reasons above. Although I dress vintage every day and listen to mostly 30s-50s music, I admitted to listening to modern stuff too, and I live in a mostly non-vintage house and drive a Ford Ka. So you have to really be immersed in the lifestyle...if anyone really is.

I really like cheese too, so I could never live on rations. Anyone for powdered egg?

I have met Sally who is producing this program. she is very nice, however, I am not really what they are looking for as I embrace the modern world.

It seems to be a program looking at peoples reactions to the modern world, and why people think that perhaps 60 years ago was a better time to live, summing up with what can be learnt from the generation/way people lived then.

They are ideally looking for people who are completely immersed in the period they have chosen, not just for people into vintage style etc.

hopefully, if it is made in the way Sally has said, it should be a sympathetic look into why people choose to live the way they do, and make people question the way we live today.

Kindest regards

Ben

(Nothing to do with the production!)
