For all the Glenn Miller junkies like myself, who believe that every band ought to have their own sound, I just found this little gem:

http://www.tuxjunction.net/glennmiller.htm

The bottom of the page has an excellent selection of hits that loop through the day, and there are pages of different playlists to listen to, including one devoted to The Modernaires. Great site with wonderful tributes to Glenn Miller's life and achievements.

Everytime I see Glenn Miller I keep thinking he looks like Benny Goodman and Kay Kryser....Do all band leaders look like that?! haha.

Thanks for the link! I am honored to be the first to step into the unknown...:D

I remember only a few months ago Tuxjunction had more than a Miller selection. They had almost every band leader imaginable, up and ready to hear.
Sadly it is long gone....

EDIT: Some have returned!

There's something about the music of this era - there is a wealth of it that is so totally inaccessible (thank you so much, Mr. Recording Industry) that it's hard to put over anything but the best known hits by the best known bands. The result: even the "ghost bands" can't dig back into the book and pull out dusty gems. They have to play the #1 hits of the other ghost bands.

I don't wanna be a hater. Miller got me started. I still listen to his records (mostly the ones people generally don't listen to). But anymore, I hear the name and it's like, "Uh oh, another meeting of the No-Surprises Dance Party." This kind of thing is what makes people old before their time.
