This is a window display that we did in honor of the Maltese Falcon. I thought that you might get a kick from it. Sorry about the glare. I'm not skilled with a camera.

Thanks for looking.

Excellent! Very nice arrangement, sir. I saw no problem at all with the photos either. Thanks for posting the photos.

I am a big fan of the marketing strategy of saturating the product in a coherent theme. If you want the kind of customers who will remain loyal rather than looking at your goods, and then finding a cheaper place to buy something nearly the same, it's the only way to go.

By the way, I have a typewriter exactly like the one shown in your display. My dad got it when his office was getting rid of them many years ago. It's what I did some of my homework assignments on way-back-when. Where do stores get that sort of thing? Are they rented from somewhere? Surely they can't afford the space to store all that cool stuff all the time.

If you've got any more photos, please post them!

Good day and God Bless.

That was great. You did a fine job with that. I especially like that wide lapel jacket; I can almost see Bogart in it. Those are nice clothes in a very nice shop. Is your Maltese Falcon an MK?

BTW, where's The Fat Man?

Wow that is the look we all love

Now everyone, I know, looking at those pictures is saying " why can't we have a store like that in our town?"

This is exactly the quality of clothing, and look, I pray comes back into fashion. The crap sagging jeans and sweatshirts are ok at the gym, but THIS is how you are supposed to look.

Bogart Marketing Tool!

Marty,

1. Would enjoy hearing what kind of comments you have received from your customers on the window display?

2. Have you enjoyed sales increases from your current campaign?

3. As far as I know you are the only Lounge member who has a mens clothing store. Great to have a mechant thats into the period, keep us posted on your happenings.

Peter ;)

The name painted on the "office" door is great. It reminds me of the scene when Spade is coming to the office and the window painter is there.
An all together great presentation.
Thanks for sharing!

Aw shucks. Thanks.

Wolf: I'm glad that you spotted our "Spade" door. My wife is a sign painter by trade. We studied the door on the movie. She did a great job.

Gray Ghost, Stefton, Senator Jack and Andykev: When you guy's are up here in Mpls, stop by. We have a bar with free Scotch, Bourbon and Beer, a pool table, a dart board, a 42" plasma always playing old movies and Frank, Dean and Sammy playing over the speakers. We'll take care of you.

Mycroft (Holmes?): You're welcome to use my pictures anyway you like. Thanks for the compliment.

Solid Citizen: Our window displays get a lot of comments. We're on the skyway system (2nd. level) in downtown Mpls. We used to a lot of traffic. A few people noticed that it was a Maltese Falcon window, but not many. As far as the increase in sales, business is good. Thanks.

Hemingway Jones: Thanks for the compliment about our store. I take great pride in it. I don't know if the Falcon is a MK. I bought it on Ebay. They said that it was from the same makers as the original. Thanks again. I enjoy reading your posts.

Colonel: I get a all of our props from antique stores and Ebay. I always try to work them around our window's theme. But it can't over take the clothing. A little goes a long way. I agree entirely with you about market saturation along a consistent look. We don't prescribe to the latest newest looks that are the current trend. No retailer is knocking off our look because they quite frankly dont understand it. I'll post some more photos. Thanks for your wisdom.

Thanks again.

Great display! It shows real imagination and really catches the eye. One thing, though, and it may not be a big deal to you, and I don't want to jinx you or anything, but I've always heard that placing shoes on top of a desk or table is bad luck. Guess it depends on how superstitious you are.

Slate Shannon, I've never heard that putting your shoes on the table is bad luck. Is that with your feet in them or out of them? Just kidding. Actually, I originally had black/white spectator wingtips on the desk. But decided that it wasn't very Sam Spade like.

Did anyone tell you that besides your mother? Sounds like a nice way of saying "Get your shoes off that table right this instant!!!"
:)
Yep, Mom said putting a fork in an electrical socket is bad luck, too...but she could be wrong.

That is the standard e-bay bird. It is sad that they told him it was from the mold of movie dingus. Look at the breast feathers then look at the photos on the Falcon page at The Golden Era.

BTW: There is a good chance I will finally do a second run this year.....but that is all I will say in this thread. I don't want to hijack this topic.
