Someone, please stop me if I'm making a huge mistake. I must admit, i have a ulterior motive for this post- I needed one more to make 15 so I could pm wil tam for the hat, both which are here:

However, I am legitimately curious. I would just like to cover my ass since I know pretty much nothing about fedoras, and since I'm pretty much decided on the trade, I was hoping someone on here would stop me if i'm making a terrible move.

Just do it. It's a fair trade because you get a hat that is VERY nice in exchange for a hat which needs work and you won't wear. That you paid 12 dollars for.

One thing, once you get it, you need to post pictures with the hat on your head.

Of course, pics are a given! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't accidentally giving away some rare treasure or something...also, my ulterior motive of being able to PM the member with the hat to trade =)

To give $12 for what you got is a GREAT deal even if it needs work to be serviceable, then to trade for a NOS Resistol that more suits the style you want to wear makes it even sweeter. Leveraging that not so vintage Sovereign Stetson to get to a sweet vintage Resistol is a righteous deal all around, to me. The ends justify the means & $12 for a NOS Resistol of brim width & band style you desire = totally justifiable in my book....

Here we go. Pics in what I was wearing today, minus the ascot, plus a dirty mirror.

I actually wish the brim were a hair longer, but still, much more my style than the stetson.

The stetson had a 2.5 inch brim. To be honest, I think most on this forum would say that it suited me, but my personal preference is towards narrower brims. Now that I have the resistol though, I think my original thought of a ~2 1/8th or so brim would be perfect for my taste, with a similar crown height. Any suggestions?

I'm already severely tempted by http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=38271 since the 7 1/8ths is a tad snug (and as a die hard Sinatra fan, have always wanted a cavanagh)

Hey yoonie, welcome.

My advice, buy the Cav', replace the couple of bucks, be happy and never look back. You won't regret such a fine hat purchase at that price. But then again, what did you expect one of us to say, 'Don't buy that fedora'? lol

my 2 cents

First off I was an hour late for our rendezvous ... my bad [huh] , I was held up at a production meeting that went into lunch and drinks. Second if I was any other guy I would not have even offered my one and only vintage NOS Resistol 990 Jet with a kitten finish to a noob on here .. but I was feeling generous yesterday which rolled into today .. what I got was a 2.5 inch Stetson Sovereign in gray with a traditional ribbon treatment from the 60's, I know that from the other that I own that has a 2 inch brim but is a 7 3/8 with the same exact lining and sweatband which is also a NOS with tags and date ... I'm gifting that hat tomorrow, the recipient is my best friend, I missed his birthday this year, it was on New Years & I was celebrating in San Francisco

the Stetson Sovereign after a steam, block & clean:

IMHO we both got what we wanted, albeit my former NOS Resistol 990 was vintage & new But I wasn't wearing it and it seem like such a shame to just let it sit in my collection gathering dust

Plus, I will wear my new Stetson Sovereign often and with pride so we both win, but I still think that I got the better of the deal ... I paid $30 for it with a buy it now on the bay ... I can't get the one I got for that, plus Yoonie gave me a tip about where he got it before scampering off .... I was going to buy him a beer.
