One way to keep tabs on eBay price trends is to do an "Advanced Search" on completed auctions and then sort the results by: "Price: Highest First." This will yield price trends of your search item over the last 30 days. I often do this to keep tabs on WWII squadron patch price trends, but it works equally well for other items. Give this a test-drive. Enter "fedora" and do the recommended sort. Results are, IMHO, quite interesting. (Although the maximum is 30 days.)
