This has been a question on my mind for a while now. I've never had a strong beard. Genetics for that aren't real strong in my family, with my father rarely ever trying to maintain a beard either.

Over the past few years I've consistently kept a moustache and goatee, but I've gotten to the point where I don't know if that is the right fit anymore. I kinda don't want to shave it, but I don't really think trying to grow it into a full beard will be successful.

I should show this post to my boyfriend. He always wanted a thick beard but, as you mentioned, due to genetics he had no chances to get it. Though he managed to grow a goatee and moustache. (okay, I googled, it called Van Dyke beard). And with time he grew it longer. With the daily use of some oils and even beard straighteners (they do exist!) he managed to make it longer at least visually.

I always noticed an unusal strong growing on my head/beard-hair, when I ate more fish in short intervals. The growing is double as fast in such phases!
I guess, it could be the iodine.

The phases of life, as explained to me by a jolly, bearded friend of mine:
  • You believe in Santa Claus;
  • You don't believe in Santa Claus;
  • You believe in Santa Claus again;
  • You start to look like Santa Claus.
This reminds me of the five phases of an actor's career:
  • Who is Sean Connery?
  • Get me Sean Connery.
  • Get me a Sean Connery type.
  • Get me a younger Sean Connery.
  • Who is Sean Connery?
My apologies to Mr. Connery for using his name, but I'd guess that last question has been asked more than once since he retired.

The Guy with the White Beard smoking a cigar is George Bruno (The Sultan) .
I used to watch his videos but he could never leave well enough alone. I quit watching when it became apparent that he wanted to leave barbering & become the next Zig Ziglar. Last I knew he has shaved his beard off.

Yeah , he had one of the best beards I had ever seen , but he shaved it off . Now he has a beard again but not long . I laugh at some of his funny stuff like stirring his coffee with chopsticks .

If you remember he volunteered to be a judge at the Nationals in Nashville (2016?) & when he got back he never had much to say about the event. Something must have happened there as he seemed to start to change shortly after. He was never the same. When he got into the motivational & goal oriented videos, & set a goal for himself to make a $million that next yr I quit watching. I never did hear what happened at Nashville.

FYI. Stumbled across this at The Atlantic Magazine. It sounds like Fedora Lounge for Beard Lovers.

Quote: “There’s no elegant way to put this, but I’m in love with an online forum devoted to facial hair. Naturally, and like many other discussion boards, Beard Board is full of men—but the men here are kindhearted and supportive of one another. Cruelty is forbidden; generosity is encouraged.”

Here is (I believe) the actual board:
