We keep the Vanson Model Bs in stock up to size 46, which accommodates all customers up to 235 lbs. For sizes 48 and above, we can custom order the Vanson (exactly as you want it!) and have it in 3-4 months.

The Vanson Bs can be made without the side buckles and here's a photo of the 3/4 action back. However, if you don't want the side buckles, you're probably better off with an Aero Sonoma Racer in Brown FQHH...

Carrie, thank you. Could you please give measurements of this in the 46? I used to have USA made Vansons in the 90's...as I recall, they ran smaller then. I'm a 48 long, so I wonder is the jacket a complete custom, or just custom order to get a 48+?

So the size 46 has a 53" chest? Is that right? I had a 46 dominator I bought last year, it was skin tight, and I ditched it straight away. i was a bit cranky, as I read the sizing charts etc...by rights it should have fit. I measure 48.5" chest and about 41 waist....whats your thoughts? Thanks

Yeah, I'm confused too.
My 48's measure out to 52-53. The pit to pit x 2 - 4" has been pretty accurate for me. That puts the 48 @ 27.5” and the 46 @ 26.5 making the 46 a better fit on paper. My old Vanson as I recall were always small.
Are these custom sizing for Thurston?

Vanson's sizing varies quite a bit from style to style, so you have to remember that you're comparing apples and oranges. For example, a size 46 Dominator fits much smaller than a size 46 Vanson Model B.

Nice Vanson - especially in brown, but I can never get used to that bloody great seam running right down its back.

That brown leather is really nice, but any time you have seams and smaller pieces of leather sewn together where you could have used just one larger piece of hide, doesn't look as good as one piece, and definately is cheaper to make. JMHO!!
