I was on the road today, returning home after a couple of weeks away, and as my family is wont to do, we stopped at a thrift store along the way. It's one my wife often finds things at, but I rarely do. While strolling toward ties something catches my eyes, this brown Knox with a 2" brim:
I struck out in ties, but walked by the former resting place of the Knox, and found a couple of bins of hats, mostly of the modern baseball variety. Then I came across this, a Harris Tweed from Eddie Bauer with thinsulate lining:
Sure, nothing to write home about, but it will keep the noggin warm on those rare cold days in Dixie.
Finally, while rummaging through the second bin, this beauty appears from underneath the pile of baseball detritus, a Disney (2.5" x 5") complete with wind trolley (and "Du Pont Water Repellant"):
Not a bad group for $12 total.
Now I've got to clean them up, and actually figure out how to get a decent bash. The Knox is tight, the Disney a little snug (although the Disney is tagged as my size). I think a little stretching will get them in order.
Any suggestions? Ideas on dating the fedoras?
