Hi Folks,

I grew up in---and my eighty-something-year-old parents still live in---Carteret County, North Carolina. Right on the ocean. Apparently, at ground zero.

I called my Mother and asked if she was going to put a "welcome" sign up on the dock.

Too bad I can't enlarge the map, but it looks like I am in the "above average" category....and I live 50 miles from the nearest coast!

I say be prepared but realize that it could just bypass them. I hope it will.
Last year's predictions didn't nail it either so there might be enough leeway to figure the coming season will be safe. [huh]
Be prepared either way though. They should have plans just in case.

Looks like Houston is in a Below Average zone. How on earth can they make these predictions? They are just statistical models, and I think that it's way more random than that. Anybody on the coast should be prepared regardless of info like this.

I kind of wondered that too when my local weatherman has $1,000,000 worth of equipment and he can't predict the weather tomorrow.
