There Was A Movie

There's always that one movie that you cannot remember. No matter how hard you think, all that you see is what you remember, an image in your mind, no title, no character nor line comes to mind.

There was a scene in a movie that I saw briefly in a high school class. It was just playing and I stopped working to watch. It was a ho-down type party, everyone dressed up, string lights hanging above, out in the open. Everyone was dancing, having fun. But there was a this one little girl I believe that was running around. Somehow she caused the string lights to snap. It all happened at once. Everything went black, chaotic and when it all cleared, everyone had stopped moving. Then the little girl walked over to one, and tapped them on the back. Their top half slid off, sliced in half. Everyone, sliced in half by these string lights. This girl on the other hand wasn't tall enough to be reached by the string. Amazing scene, perhaps not of everyone's tastes but amazing.

Doe this sound familiar to anyone?

I have some from Sunday afternoon movies:

Old movie, B&W, maybe 1940s.
An orphanage (?) catches on fire and two little girls hide in a closet. A very 1940s young woman comes and gets them and tells them not to hide in there.

Old movie, B&W, silent.
A very blonde vampy woman is sitting on some type of marble slab. Her arms are outstretched and she is heaving.

Anybody have any clues? These bits of movies pop into my head all the time.
