Thedi Hektor Half Belt

Hi all-

I'm looking to order a custom Thedi Hektor, and I'm on the fence about the leather/color combination I'll go with. I'm also planning to order the detachable shearling collar and shearling liner.

If you own a Hektor, are you willing to post a few pics and details of your order? I'm specifically looking at the Cognac Buffalo, Cuoio Buffalo, Light Brown Buffalo and Brown Veg-Tanned Buffalo. I'm open to any and all images, though. I'm also extremely curious how the leathers look after some age and wear; I don't plan to be gentle.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure you'll see too many varying examples of this jacket, but I did just get some leather samples in from Thurston Bros. The light brown buffalo is a favorite and I already own a cocoa buffalo Atlas.

Honestly, if you're set on buffalo you can't really go wrong with any of the colors. It's just color preference.

Not a hector, but similar. This is in the brown Buffalo.

Thanks for the insights! The cognac color is unique and fits that jacket style really well, in my opinion, but it looks a little too orange for my taste in some of the pictures. Hard to say without seeing it in person, and it's hard to imagine how it will age (it will darken, hopefully?). Hate to ask you to take any time out of your day, but do you have any images of the light brown leather that you're referring to? New and/or aged? Thanks!

Thank you for sharing those images! Is that the Evander crosszip (keeping all the names straight apart from the numbers on the website is a bit of a chore! Really love that color!
I did not order it through Thurston- but the Evander is the closest on the TB website to it. This is the MTC-127920

Ahh, gotcha! I'm planning to go directly to Theodoros. Is that what you did? The MTC-127920 is the other model I'm looking at...in straight black though, jut like the one on the site, but without the angled zipper on the chest...

From Thurston Bros website. Lots of pics of this leather. It’s better than the cognac and cuoio in my opinion.

On this one I went straight to Theo, but I have a lot of jackets where I went through TB. I’d say if this is your first, and you have the opportunity, take advantage of TB. Get a fit jacket and have Carrie send you leather samples. It’s just a more sure fire way to get what you want…take the guesswork work out of it. Carrie’s advice and knowledge of the fit, leathers, etc is a valuable tool.

Gaaah! Love this style. Like @Mandarin's, yeah? Is this Brown Buffalo chrome or veg tanned? How does it behave in the rain?

It's veg tanned. I should have said it's Espresso - that's the official color name, considering how many brown colors Thedi works with. I was looking for something chocolate brown and this color nailed it. I think it's the same model. Thurston calls it the Niko. Thedi only uses a multi digit number to refer to the model.

I've only had it a couple weeks and haven't worn it in the rain at all. It's pretty waxy, at least to start.

Thanks - I do love this "Espresso" color. Just curious as to how it performs in inclement weather, simply because of where I live & how often I'm working outside.

I have a brown Hektor, officially named "gray" when I spotted it on the website. I'll post some pictures as soon as I can, but it really hasn't changed much since I received it 3 years ago.

I really don't think buffalo is going to change much. It's almost like goat to be honest. I think what you see is what you're going to get with Thedi, which isn't a bad thing as it's amazing right off the rack.

That makes a lot of sense. I tend to want to go straight to the craftsman, but I definitely see the value in working with someone local (I live in Seattle)! Thanks for the advice!

I have had four Thedis, now own 3. In terms of color, they are all pretty amazing. For me, the Cocoa Buffalo Atlas had the richest color, followed closely by the lighter brown Buffalo in the Aegean. I also have a shawl collar in Cognac, and yes it’s a little bit orange but still cool as hell and at least based on Red Devil’s Hektor, it does darken with sun and aging. Also have a dark brown Evander in goat which is easier and less varied in color than the other three.

if you live in Seattle, TB is a no brainer! Maybe you can set up an appointment for fi jackets and make it much more efficient? Good luck w the Thedi! Amazing jackets.
