The wife has been leaning on me hard to start riding to school instead of driving, so I've started shopping around for a helmet and jacket. Does anyone know where I might find a traditional-looking motorcycle jacket like the one Brando wore in The Wild One but in brown leather instead of black?

Aero make a version of that jacket, and they'll do it in brown if you ask.

The Indian seems to be a fancier version of the above, with a few extra features.

I've had my forthcoming Aero Cossack modified to be bike friendly, and their advice is to go with the front quarter horsehide.

Lost Worlds do a few that are similar. Their prices are higher than Aero's, though:

Langlitz offer a range of colours, so I'm sure that they could do a brown one:

Tony Nowak made the jackets for the new Indiana Jones film. Shia's character wears a Brando style biker jacket, and that could look good in the leather used for Indy's:

Fox Creek Leather do brown as a special order. They've got a good reputation too:

Wested offer a (much) cheaper alternative:

I'd either go with the Aero, as their jackets seem to be significantly sturdier than anything that I've seen in a motorbike dealer. (I'm thinking about learning to ride too.) In which case I'd get something likea Forcefield armoured shirt and back protector to wear underneath.

Or I'd find someone who makes an armoured version of the traditional Brando jacket in brown. Though that might be trickier.

Hi,

Langlitz offer a big advantage. The jackets are tailor made, meaning they fit to perfection. I have been dealing with Dave there and his customer service approach is the best I have seen in a very long time. In addition Langlitz motorcycle jacket have a great name in the market.

Many type of leather can be found on the market today. Cowhide is the best known, you can also find Horsehide and Goat skin (deer and other leathers such as Kangaroo can also be found). My preference goes to Goat skin as it lighter than Cow or Horse hide. It is stronger than Cowhide and on par with Horsehide. Colors are not a problem today, specially brown.

Best of luck, it is worth doing some homework to get what you want, many styles are available.

Cheers et a bientot,
