"THE UTICAN" - recent ebay find

Decided to bid on this, despite the very brief description and no size. Worth a shot for $5, and only $6 to post to the UK. Turned up the other day and I'm chuffed to bits with it!

I love the colour and weave of the wool. Got a crease where it's been laid flat for decades I guess, and the lining is missing. The remains of a very yellow silky fabric are still under the leather sweatband, along with a little size label tucked away that reads 7 1/4'. A stamp in gold near the peak reads "THE UTICAN", under the head of a Native American? Can any loungers shed light on this?

My plans are to replace the lining, repair the sweatband, and wear it lots

Utica has or had back in the 80's one of the coolest old train stations around..one of those huge old paces all lined with wooden rows. Easily unchanged since the 1940s or before..never crowded but always some unusual characters about. You had to go underground through this leaky old tunnel to to get to the riser to catch the train..as a matter of fact Utica was one cool old city that got lost after big Industry left this area....real old school....

yeah UC beer is pretty bad ...bu the Saranac brand they make is pretty good....:cheers1:

By the way sorry for the tangent...I like the cap....1930's or so ???
