It came today. It's a 7-1/4, but it's shrunk down, so I'm going to work to bring it back up to size.
The felt is very floppy and thin, but dense.
Inside is a ventilated sweatband, under which is a tag stating it was made in Minnesota.
At one point the hat appears to have had a wind string, but someone has cut it off.

That brim width is nice. How wide is it? I like that ribbon width, too. That seems to be optimal.

BTW, nice tie, too!

The brim is 2-3/4", with a big curl, as you can see in the profile shot. The ribbon is 1-1/8"

Good observation, Orgetorix. My three-buck Portis has similar looking staining on its edge binding and ribbon band. I brushed that hat and sponged it and washed it in naphtha, which sharpened it up quite a bit, yet a bit of that staining to the grosgrain remains. What to do? For now, I call it a foul-weather hat, and I call that good.

yeah- the brim binding has some stains which look like rust, or something like that. 99 percent of people on the street wouldn't notice, so I think I'll just leave it as it is.
