One Too Many
song lines

I remember many years ago seeing an episode of the 3 stooges that was sung, absolutely no spoken dialogue. I wondered if that was a technical factor because apparently early films weren't able to coordinate the spoken word accurately enough, which put this one pretty early in both the the stooges' and film history.
And while we're on comedians, I reckon Mitchell and Durant are a forgotten treasure.

I think the title of that one was "Woman Haters" and it was made in 1934. Quite possibly their first short. Not sure about that though.

Thanks for the link! I like the message that is posted on the first page of the Stooge Lounge: "if you feel you've reached this message forum in error, you must be some kind of Ignoramous!" :eusa_clap

lol That is a good one. I think this site is a lot better than another I found which claimed to be the definitive Stooges site. Glad you like it.

"Woman Haters"

Right you are Nick.

"Woman Haters" was the first Columbia short the trio filmed. Oddly enough, while they are listed in the opening credits, as the Three Stooges, they're not called Moe, Larry and Curly, (sometimes Curley). Curly in fact is called Jackie.

While the film features lots of singing ("..my life, my love, my all.") the dialog is not sung, but it does rhyme. Which leads to some real unfortunate stretches of the English language to accomplish this.

Music also plays undernearth the entire film.

Walter Brennen has a cameo as a train conductor.

The posted picture of the Stooges in golf attire above is from the short "The Three Little Beers."

BTW, The second stooge short for Columbia, "Punch Drunks", written by Moe Howard is a major Hat Flick. The scenes of the crowd at the boxing match features dozens of great looking lids
