The Pampered Man

Hey Guys, Dudes, Studs, Manly-Macho-Men

The next time your girl goes to get her nails done...

GO WITH HER!

You havnt lived until you've had a manicure AND a pedicure.
My wife talked to me for years about going. I finally went and man I'm hooked.

You soak your feet in a hot whirlpool while they massage your hands and feet with lotions.

I got the hot parafin wax treatment also. They wrap your hands and feet in hot wax. I guess it softens the skin. I found this the most relaxing part.

Of course they trim your nails too.

Now I know you manly-men are a little leary of this experience, but what could be better than being the only guy in a room full of women?!

For men who are as concerned about the way they present themselves as most of the guys on this forum this is a great way to finish off that put together look.

It also felt in some way very nostalgic, though I dont know why.

Now if I can find a barber that still shaves and has a hat hook for my fedora I'm all set!

It may be a long way to go, but...

Jerry's Barber Shop, Canterbury Street, Saint John, N.B. He still does shaves, hair tonic scalp massages, the works. He has a coat rack with separate coat and hat hangers, and I believe there are a few other hat hooks on the wall.

I only ever get the regular haircut which costs (drum roll, please) 6 dollars. SIX dollars. :D

As a matter o' fact, I need a haircut and will be dropping by at Jerry's probably this coming Wednesday. His shop is right around the corner from my favorite watering hole ;)

I still..

I still go for massages (and no it's not what some of you are thinking) to make sure that I'm relaxed occasionally. I also occasionally go for a pedicure and manicure as well. Even though I'm particularly ticklish on my feet it's still a great way to go ahead and take care of yourself. I still goto a barber that shaves and such with a straight edge but before him I had a girlfriend who was a hair stylist and she gave the best scalp massages before cutting your hair. It was awesome, but I'd never go back.

"Jerry's Barber Shop" has closed forever. The owner (Ray, not Jerry) retired and closed shop. I now have to go to the west side of town to find a "Barber" shop rather than a "Stylist" or "Unisex" salon.

Poo. Poo I tells ya!

GOOD for you BigSleep! Men need some pampering too. Men used to do this sort of thing back in the days of the Golden Era, it was called being WELL GROOMED. Remember gents, us ladies do appreciate a man that does put some time and effort into his looks, as long as he doesn't go too overboard with it.

I'm afraid I might start envisioning myself as Ralph Bellamy in "Hands Across the Table". You may recall that Fred MacMurray gets Carole Lombard in that one. Ralph loses out.

Lord ha' mercy, if the ladies at the salon saw my feet, they'd run out screaming. My wife already tells me I have the softest hands of any adult she knows, male or female. I'm not quite sure how to take that.

I get a pedicure once a month; been doing it for years. On my last visit to the the girl I've been using in Florida the last few years she cut my big toe quite severely at the cuticle. It hurt like the dickens (I realized right then that I would tell EVERYTHING if tortured:eek: ) and the scab took nearly a month to fall off (very unsightly). It was the first time I'd ever been cut by a pedicurist. I will have to decide if I'm going to return to her again.
