When was the Stetson 25 open road hat released ? I just bought a 1964 one
Catalogs show them in the 1950's. The thin ribbon OR style came out in late 40's.

I've seen thrift stores do that very thing, cut out and remove identifying labels from clothing. What a shame. Nice hat though. Finally found a vintage 50s Open Road, the felt is in great condition but some moron has crudely cut out the dealership logo and some other marking on the sweatband, no clue why someone would do that!

I have a Royal Stetson like that too. As far as I'm concerned it's an Open Road, even though it's not stamped on the sweat anywhere. This showed up during the week, courteousy of the classifieds
It doesn't say "open road" so is it?

Just wanna say that I still miss you, John. Wish you were here :-( XOXO
Looks good to me, handymike! So long as you are wearing the hat, who will know what it says on the sweatband? I like it!
Sometimes I'll refer to it as Stetson cloning its own Open Road. A Royal Stetson OR clone in this case.No quarrel with anyone choosing to call their hat whatever they would like to call it, but I would suggest adding the thin ribbon bound brim Stetsons that are not branded Open Road to The Brotherhood of the Thin Ribbon or starting a thread Not An Open Road. Just my .02.
