If you read only one WW2 book this year, make it The Mascot by Mark Kurzem:

The story was discussed tonight on 60 Minutes, reminding me that I must get my copy back from a friend. The story of this man's wartime experience, combined with the story of his search for answers with his son, makes for a tremendous read. Really, this is one of my top five war books of all time. Spielberg should make a movie of this story-it's that good.
