The "Lobbying" Hatters (A question to the hatters of the Lounge)

Just out of curiousity, have you guys ever thought about pitching your hats to pop stars and modern Latino artists like Frankie J., Enrique Inglesias, and others like them? Latinos have been searching for their own style as of late and I do believe that it would compliment their style.

What about Hollywood? I was suprised that Stetson, Borsalino, Biltmore, and the other big hat companies didn't lobby the new Superman movie. As I mentioned before in another thread, I was waiting for the guy who played Clark to show up in a decent Stetson Temple or Biltmore. After all, a suit and fedora were Clark's trademark. For example: A simple movie poster with a black or blue background with the Superman logo. In the middle, there would be a lone navy blue fedora and glasses.

A few simple forms of advertisement can go far. An Average Joe like me has inspired many to wear fedoras. From the men in my family to the guy walking on the street. Almost every man who sees me on a regular basis, eventually begins to wear some type of fedora. lol Just my two cents.

So what say you, fellas?

Okay, I'll let you in on it. The powers-that-be were tinkering around the FL, trying to fix the clock (which was 12 hours behind). The clock is now fixed, but we'll have to wait a few more hours before the posting order gets back to normal.

That's it in a nutshell. :)

The following photo is for you, amigo. A '40s tie that went for a ridiculously low price on eBay. "La Raza", indeed:

Tommy, I have done hats for film and in fact am waiting for the film "Lonely Hearts" to come out as I did some for both James Gandolfini and John Travolta. In my case it is definitely a case of "be careful what you wish for" as I don't want to get much busier than I already am so I prefer word of mouth. It makes sense for some of the larger shops ie: Optimo and I have turned Graham onto some of the work. Since I was in the industry for a while I still have the contacts but again, how busy do I want to be?

Is that from the novel, Miss Lonelyhearts, by Nathaniel West? That would get me all a twitter.

PS: Art, I sent you an email. :)

That's a great tie, Marc. How much did it go for?

I appeciate your answers. I certainly know where you guys are coming from. But one question still remains: Why aren't the big hat companies trying harder to gain influence in Hollywood and in the music scene? As I said before, they missed out on Superman Returns.

Only the exec's know Tommy, but my suspicion is that Stetson ( Hatco or whatever co. name they carry now) feel they have a lock on the market or at least their share so why bother.

It had only one bidder, and went for the tiny sum of $11.99.

Not only is the design rare and fantastic, but the tie was made for PAN AMERICAN WORLD AIRWAYS in the late '40s as a gift for preferred clients and employees! Printed on the tie:

I didn't win it. *sigh*

It's probably because they have had limited success in the past. There have been hat collections for Kid Rock and Santana.

On the western front, Hatco has collections for George Strait, Tracy Lawrence, Clay Walker, PBR, PRCA and NCHA. See where their heads are?

Even though we don't make our own designs we've slowly been building up relationships with people at Disney World, Hollywood and some ad agencies. We currently have some Kangol caps on the way to Studio 18 in Studio City, CA.

Not too busy I still have hats that need working on and maybe a few new ideas. :D ;)
I remember that work for the film. I have been waiting for it to come out as well. It would be the first film I have gone to the theatre to see for about five years now. [huh]

Regards,

J

Have you tried building a relationship with Johnny Depp?

No, we haven't. We don't really go looking for these folks though. They just seem to be finding us since our website was redesigned. If I knew his size and address I'd send him one of our new open crown fedoras.
