BK,unless the pin is original or will leave a permanent hole I am going to remove it.I am not big on decoration unless it is there from the start.
Dinerman, you can bid easy now as my hat buying is slowing down and the ORs are off my list.
Marc,I am rather fond of this one myself. However the 100 is a hard hat to beat and it the long haul I think that the 100 will wear better and longer than this one.

Well the hat came last night. The sweat band is real nice and the color is great, kind of pinkish cast but I suppose my expectation was a bit too high. The hat is super ,super stiff brim and crown both, even more so than
the 100. I had a bear of a time just getting it to sit on my head. I am not patient and after 10 minutes of steam I went to strait water to try to bend down the brim (it must have been stored on it's brim) not easy. I also tried to get the crown bashed to where the hat could sit down on my head in stead of on top of my head. I can use it for a frisbee. So I'm not sure what I will do with this one.

Here is that nifty pin. It does not go through the hat which is a good thing It is a strait pin type that goes behind the bow.

Perhaps I need to wear this in a heavy rain. I see that if I keep this hat it will need some serious wrangling to get it under control.

You seem a little disgruntled. So sorry you're having trouble with it. It appears to be great hat. Do you think a dunk in denatured alcohol would strip the stiffener? In the auction photo it didn't seem to have the usual Alpine crease in the crown, just a centered bash, but your bash like okay. That's a cool pin though. Are you going to keep it on the the hat now that you've city-fied it?

GF,I'm disappointed not disgruntled. I know when I get a hat it may not be what I expected. That is the nature of the beast. I wanted my last OR to be comfortable so I can wear it as the others I bought are really softer than this one and I was hoping to save them for special days. I have read the posts about how stiff these can be so I don't feel I 've been blind sided. I'm just not used to fighting so much to get a hat to sit well.I will put the hat through its paces and see if it will obay.
I don't know about the pin yet. I may leave it in for a while and see how it goes.
