There are actually two films, both called The Killer Inside Me. One was made in 1976 and stars Stacy Keach and the more recent one, made in 2010, stars Casey Affleck. Both are based on the novel of the same name.

The recent one is very conscious in its efforts to establish a kitchey, cutesy, retro feel which is contrasted against the stark, graphically portrayed, violence of the central character, Lou Ford. The violence in the most recent one is SO graphic, however, that the movie is extremely difficult to watch.

The 2010 version is just being released here. The reviews comment on the graphic nature of the violence. I'd prefer to get Lounger's take on the flick.

I didn't expect a feel good story from Jim Thompson, but I'll have to give it some thought, thanks.
