Forgive me ... it's true that we already have a thread devoted to spectator shoes. But the 1930s pair below are so so extraordinary, so fine, so pristine, so perfect, they seem to deserve a showcase thread of their own.

They're not mine, alas, and are far too tiny to fit me anyway. In that sense, they're not absolutely perfect. ;)

Enjoy the near perfection!

To my mind, these shoes have the perfect form (or silhouette) for a cap-toe oxford. It's neither flimsy nor chunky; the lines are harmonious but not at all dull. Elegance with a capital "E".

Today, only a handful of crushingly expensive bespoke shoemakers in England, France and Italy create such shoes.

And a guy in the US and one in Hungary.

Sharp shoes! They'd make beautiful music with my gray seersucker.

While not crazy about the gray, I gotta say, the fact they are gray makes them so rare and special. And yes, the shape is just what I love. Maybe not quite the "philly spade" an old black woman told me about. But pretty close.

My one complaint about AEs is that they don't have that diamond shape. as nice as they are, they curve in too much for my tastes.
