seems like a good place for a first post..
most anything from Great Lakes or Goose Island, for special occasions Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. I always keep a supply of Miller High Life in the frig.

I had some Sam Adams chocolate bock out of a sampler that was given to me for Christmas, I was very surprised by it, quite enjoyable!

I had some 2010 Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale which is a non-spiced winter ale. Its a couple of steps above their Pale Ale in strength but a couple of steps below their Bigfoot Barely wine. Great stuff and worth cellar-ing for a few months too.

We have a great selection of micro brew and craft beer out here. One of my favorites that is slowly gaining popularity is a beer called "Fat Tire". It's great if you prefer a lighter drink. For you vintage bicycle fans, the name comes from Portland's claim as the bicycle capital of America and there is a vintage-style beach cruiser on their label.

Like I said, not bad if you prefer a lighter beer. Comparable in color and "strength" to Coors Light, but much smoother and easier going down.

If you like a medium dark beer, there is a radio show here that has worked with a local/regional brewery to come up with their own label amber. The radio show is "The Men's Room" on 99.9 KISW, and the beer is "Men's Room Original Red". They also have an Ale. Not a bad beer and goes great with a steak or burger.

WARNING: The radio show can be found online. It's not family-friendly. Although there are some good topics, there is plenty of toilet humor and some childish moments. I'm not judging the show or it's listeners, just trying to help in case you get curious.

For my everyday beer I keep a keg of Pabst on tap, it's refreashing after working out in the sun or just sitting on the back deck. Yes you'll find craft, and dark beers in the reffer when I want a different taste, but the PBR is never far away. Since Anheuser-Bush sold out to Inbev (Belguim), Pabst is now the largest American owned beer company. They also own Lone Star, Strohs, Carling black label, Pearl, Ballantine, Old Milwaukee, just to name a few, plus many more.

On the way home tonight, I'll be filling a growler with Stone's Smoked Vanilla Bean Porter. I'm not a big fan of smoked beers, but I've heard and read that the smoke takes a way-back seat to the vanilla.

I am not a smoked beer fan although sometimes there are some that aren't bad.
However I don't like hardly any beers that have spices or flavors so vanilla and smoked probably won't do me well. I would try it just to see cause you never know.

Well the Smoke Vanilla Porter wasn't horrible.
I happened to go back yesterday for the official Stone Brewing tasting, I got a growler of Cali-Belgique this time, Nice!. They had some Vertical Epic 06 which found it's way home with me too.
Still Searching for their 10th Anniversary.

Is this the Stone Brewing from California down by San Diego? My friends at the Stuffed Sandwich seem to be in tight with those guys maybe they can source it for you. http://www.stuffedsandwich.com/

Yes it is John. I'd love to know what it would cost/take to get a six. Would you suggest I call them?
You've written about the vertical tastings you had of Stone at the Stuffed Sandwich- A little green here!:)

I really enjoy those "Most interesting man in the world" adverts from Dos Equis beer. I thought I'd show my appreciation by buying a pack of six bottles. It was disappointing to say the least., okay, but nothing to write home about!

He remains, however, the most interesting man in the world!

Their amber is a nice Vienna Lager along the lines of an Oktoberfest beer.

I finally got to try Fruli over the holidays. I love it! Too bad I can't get it here. :(

Fruli is one of my faves, BlackDahlia! In my native Saskatchewan it's also only $2 - cheaper than pop!

I've really been digging Crabbie's Ginger Beer lately, it's so perfect for summer. It has a very strong ginger taste, so beware!

I'm also a beer blogger and we're on the look out for themes of beers to taste. Anyone have any suggestions?
