The Frankford Yellow Jackets were one of the very first professional American Football teams. Their roots go back to about 1899, but the team's main history is in the 1920's.
My late father in law always claimed he played with the Yellow Jackets as a teenager, in about 1928 and 1929. He said he played under an assumed name, because he was under age. He was a drop kick specialist. But I see no evidence of that here. Oh, well.
Looking at the 1928 schedule, I found 7 different weekends when they played a game on Saturday, and another on Sunday. This was the time when men were men, and tackles didn't weigh 325 pounds!
Anyway, here is a very well put together history and tribute to a very bygone era in American sports.
