The FL Jewelry & Other Things Match Up

I have a Coro necklace from 1957 that I know had matching earrings at one point (I saw an ad for it in a costume jewelry book!). Would you be willing to keep your eyes peeled when you're shopping on Ebay, at flea markets, or local vintage or thrift stores?

Do you have something that you're looking for a match for? Maybe it doesn't have to be part of a set, but you want a bracelet that will go with that necklace/earring set you already have?

This is just an idea in case any of you are interested. I've scoured Ebay (with success) to find pieces that match partial sets that I have, or that belong to friends of mine. It's very frustrating. I know if I'd seen something here, my memory would be jogged if I saw something at the local antique market that might match it - and cellphone cameras are handy for this purpose!

Anyway, it's just an idea that stems from a problem that I'm sure I'm not alone in experiencing! Let me know what you think.

That sounds like a cool idea! I'll keep a lookout :) I can't think of anything I try to match, other than trying to find items from the Chicago World's Fair 1933-1934. But they are pretty easy to find on ebay.

Different people seem to have different capabilities for finding stuff. I've found matches for Miss Bella before, and she has found Remix heels for me on Ebay. They weren't showing up in ANY of the searches I ran, but somehow she came across them in my size. Sometimes someone else just comes up with the right keywords or looks in the right cabinet at their antique mart :)

We own a glass, decorative bourbon bottle from the Chicago World's Fair. So far, I can't find anything out about it. All I know is that it's gold-plated. Would you happen to know?

I have a faux coral bracelet and want to find the matching necklace. I have never seen another and I have looked. It is not exactly the roses one. I will get some pix up soon.

Jayem, I don't really know anything about the items, I just like them for our depression era reenacting :)

Foofoogal, Thanks so much for the link, fantastic!

Love this thread!

i adore searching Ebay for jewelry, and if I can do it for you to buy stuff, that will keep me out of trouble!
Plus, I have an uncanny ability to remember every piece of jewelry I see, so post your needs...
I love matching sets, I have a lot of them, so it is getting hard for me to find (affordable) things that I don't already have a good example of. Thanks for giving me an excuse to shop vicariously!

EDIT: Way too easy, I just PM'd Ktty T the matching bracelet to her necklace, up on Ebay right now.

Come on, girls, send me your desires!

Wonderful!

And the perfect example of 'if it is an ebay item , remembering to PM the person wanting the item' rather then posting it in the thread...(because we all remember that no live auctions can be posted right? )

The "wish list" thread

I thought, as eBay can be so fickle

we could list here what we rerally want and if someone else sees it they can guide is in the right direction. no posting live auctions obviously, but if we see something we know another would love there is always IM

I collect "mode o'day" items, i love the stuff, though it was a cheap label for its time

what is on your wish list

I found these in a charity shop some time ago, I love the design but there's 5 saucers and only three cups. I'd love to find the matching cups, or even just find out the name of the design (they're made by Noritake) but so far I've had no joy. If anyone sees anything please let me know!

I will be hitting flea markets frequently this summer. This seems like a pretty unforgettable design. I will keep my eyes peeled! Does it have a maker's mark on the back?

I would like to find the matching bracelet and earrings for this pretty number:

Is this an unsigned piece or does it have a signature of some sort on the back or the clasp?

I am also looking for more of these dishes! A friend gave me some large and small plates, and I found a few more plates (4 for $1!) at a local antiques market. I've seen them rarely on Ebay, but they are hard to find because most of the pieces are unmarked on the back. They are Homer Laughlin and the design is unidentified (I've even checked with a china matching service). I'm looking for small plates, saucers, cups and service pieces.
