The Final Aero Highwayman in my Trilogy (hopefully)

Like many of you, I've been searching for the perfect leather jacket.
But, in my case, I'm only looking for one, not dozens like some of you. :D
First bought a Highwayman years ago that was less than perfect for me.
I then sold it, and ordered a new one through Mark Moye (remember that blast from the past name)
Well, after tons of miscommunication, I received it, and then promptly sent it back to correct mistakes that Mark had obviously
not communicated to Aero.
Finally got it back and wore it for the last 5 or so years.
It always struck me as a bit short in both sleeves and body though.
This was driven home when I recently bought a short Filson jacket that fit absolutely perfectly.
It was about 2" longer both in body and arms than my Highwayman.
Well, that's all it took to kick my OCD into high gear.
Needless to say, I contacted Holly, arranged to trade it in, and have Aero build me a new one based on measurements of the trade in.
The order was finalized last week and now all I have to do is wait the 2-4 months for it.
For those interested, here are the specifics:
- Size 40”
- Tumbled Brown FQHH
- Vintage Brass Zips
- 1 Piece Back
- Zip sleeves
- 24.5” sleeves
- 22.5” back
- Cotton drill sleeve lining
- Brown (preferably with golds/blacks) Tartan budget lining option with 3" corduroy strip at the bottom
- Inside pocket on opposite side to outside pocket)
- Breast pocket on right side – no more than 5” deep please
I asked for the sleeves to be lined in sateen for ease of on/off, but Holly informed me that they no longer use it; Bummer!
For reference, I'm 5'7", 155 lbs.
You'll see it when it arrives, hopefully in time for the fall weather.
For those of you who have recently bought Aeros, how long did it take?

umm..that back length seems very, very short to me. I'm only 5.5 tall and my Highwayman is 24.5 (back collar seam to hem line) and that takes 1/2" over my belt line. To be honest i'd of preferred another 1/2". Hate you to make the same mistake again!

No bi swing back.

That's the same thing Holly said Mark.
But it is 2" longer than the jacket I traded in.
And that covers my belt.
I must have a short upper body, and long legs for my height.
My suits are actually 39 Short.
I don't want the situation where I sit down and the bottom of the hem folds in my lap and I can't get my hands in my jeans pockets when standing.
My Vanson Enfield has a 24" back and that's the situation with that jacket.
But I ride in it and I like the extra coverage on the bike.
However, I might just add .5" to the measurement anyway.
Thanks for the concern.
Lenny

Good luck with it Lenny, a 22.5" back does seem very short but it sounds like you've done your homework.

22.5inch length on a size 40.....yeah, it sounds short to me as well...hope you double checked your measurements.

Goodluck, hope you get your grail jacket this time :)

I don't get sizing of these jackets. I am six feet two and 185 pounds and Insurrection recommended a 38. As for a length of 22.5 if you are only five seven it sounds okay. As it happens Harrison Ford's Raiders jacket measured around 22 inches and he is six one.

Probably best to take your measurements and ask Aero's advice on sizing. I wouldn't suggest sizing down for a neat fit, though - it's meant to be a boxy cut.

I love short jackets and 22,5 " back lenght isn't too short for me . it's exactly what I want with my jackets - sure it depends on your build and preferences - but 20,5" its more a bolero.
Here's a back view when I wearing it - what do you think Lenny, is this what do you want and have in mind??

BTW: It's Vintage/tumbled FQ Horsehide
