I believe the coach was right around the late 40s ... especially if it is a plain deboss and not gold ... I think the gold coach arrived in the early 50s

I know mine has a plain debossed coach and no cover on the tip ... that is what makes me think it is late 40s

everything on yours looks 50s to me .... pretty sure that liner with tip protector is early 50s

of course Brad could probably pin point an era
I think you are correct. Early 1950's . I miss-read the info on the debossed sweat logo on Brad's site. Thanks for the dating help !

I'm not sure of the timeline of crown protectors. Cellophane is thin, organic (cellulose) and generally a more attractive (IMO) material than vinyl, which reminds me of how furniture was protected in my youth.
I remember that plastic furniture cover material. Made a crinkling sound when you sat on it..... I think my liner has that same material covering it!

Borsalino stuck with paper for a long time but I do remember some hats with a soft, translucent plastic material. I don't believe I still own one to go back and check. Is this what you are thinking of?

This came in yesterday from Joshbru.
This is one of the nicest vintage hats I've handled. It is a 40 from the forties. I was toying with the crease which was going to be my usual diamond until I remembered I wanted to do something different.

This is THE hat I've been pining for. The felt does whatever you want. Molds like clay and smooth as a baby's butt. Thanks Josh!!!

Thank you Esther and Harv!

Agreed Bob, everyone needs that brown combination! I tried to get it with the Heritage Fawn Fed IV and it was OK, but this Dobbs is unbelievable.
