The Delineator!

One of the first, and longest-published, womens magazines was the Delineator, which was invented as a monthly catalog for the Butterick pattern company as a vehicle to show the fashions.

It started in the late 1880s, and ended in 1937 when it merged with Pictorial Review.

I have the entire decade of 1927 through 1936, they are the thing I will grab if the house catches on fire!

Beautiful! I have a collection of magazines from the early teens through the 40s (well, a few 50s too, courtesy of my mid-century friends), but not a single Delineator.

At 100+ pages each, and 120 issues, I don't think I am up to it! That's a lot of scanning.

I am planning to do a lecture on it next year sometime for the ADSC, and maybe it will also be presented at the Queen Mary Art Deco Weekend if accepted. I might make a DVD version of it later.

I have a few duplicate issues which I will be selling this week too, just have to go through them and list the highlights and scan a few tidbits. Watch for them in the Classifieds!
