I don't mind this look in a casual setting, I myself have done this before, but I think the jacket needs to be unbuttoned. But that's just my opinion.

I'm thinking that CG didn't want to be photographed jacketless or in short sleeves (or maybe jackets were required at the Sahara), and had too much class to tuck in a shirt meant to be worn tails-out, so just slipped the jacket over it for reasons of decorum.

Ie: he probably didn't intend this as a style statement.

I don't know about that, he was very calculating in his presentation.

Notice that in the top pic he has only the bottom button of his sportcoat done up and in the bottom pic he has both done up.

I the first photo, he's surely on a boat, no?

Touring the U.S. for his first significant look at the country, Arthur MacArthur (right), 16-year-old son of Gen. Douglas MacArthur, queries Cary Grant about movie making on the set of "To Catch a Thief". Young MacArthur is spending six weeks visiting places his long years in the Far East prevented him from seeing. "Hollywood is Everything I thought it would be", said Arthur.

Tomasso: To me, the top pic just screams chickenhawk. Anybody else get that vibe?

I am a little afraid to say. I posted something about the chia pet and I got heartburn.:(

If I was not concerned I would say absolutely:p:p :p

He was the IVth, no less.

As the only son of Fightin' Doug, Arthur had a lot of expectations put on him at a very young age. He turned down an appointment to West Point to go to Columbia, changed his name, and effectively disappeared.

They say he became a concert pianist and is still in NYC. No one knows what his assumed name might be.

Other hits indicate he is/was actually a saxophonist in NY. So was I for many years - that got me to wondering who he might be! He'd be about 70 and - perhaps - still known as Art or Artie.

Only guy I can think of is Artie Miller, but he's several years younger and best known as a clarinetist.
