So I read the other day that using a clothing brush on one's suits can increase the lifetime of a suit by a few years.

1. Is this true?

2. What is a good, quality brand for not too much money?

3. Advice on technique?

Using a brush is a very good thing for your clothing, as it removes surface dirt etc. from the garment and prevents it from setting in. It is not very complicated at all.

You need a brush of reasonable stiffness, hard to describe, but anything that is not a metal brush or a super soft badger thingy will do. If the package says clothes brush, you're probably good. As for the technique; simply brush. No need to brush your suit counter-clockwise  .
