Last week, I caught Son of the Sheik at the Canton Palace Theatre in Canton, Ohio. The Palace was built as a silent movie palace. The Kilgen pipe organ originally purchased for the theatre is still there and works. My friend Jay Spencer is one of the few people in America who can play such an instrument. A couple of times a year, a silent film is shown with the organ providing the soundtrack. It is an amazing experience - to see a silent film as intended, in an unchanged venue.
The film, of course, stunk. Oh well. Valentino had smolder and charisma... and that wraps it up.
