Just came across this on the Internet.

I have been out of touch, I did not know it had closed. Been to quite a few events at the Cafe Royal in the past, but I guess no more as the Cafe Royal in London's Regent Street is closing its doors after 143 years.

One hopes that all of the "Important" pieces at auction are bought by the Victoria & Albert museum, they did have the forsight to save the mirrored entrance to the demolished "Strand Palace" Which I saw recently at the "Art Deco" exhibition in Melbourne.

Seems many of the developed worlds, treasured insitutions are falling by the wayside, look at Woolworths!!!!As a child, they introduced me to the concept of "Pick "N" Mix" which ever since has always been ones great aim in life!

Brenda & Beaver visit the "Cafe De Paris" could this have actualy been filmed at the "Cafe Royale"??

Shame.

But all is not lost. If you feel like a brew and some cake in fancy surroundings, you can always nip round the corner and dig the vintage charms of Fortnums.
