Agree with David... very nicely done!

Personally I think I prefer the more Euro-centric center dent. I look forward to seeing the hats on your head so I can be forced to eat my words. :)

I'm stuck at my computer for a while, but will try to get some headshots in a bit.

I would have preferred to keep these with the center crease - if the taper, along the sides as well as front and back, were not so pronounced.

I own the Australia market Akubra Fedora which has very similar dimensions, but far less taper, and I have that bashed as a center crease - and it looks great.

Andy, I tend to agree with Alan but either bash has it's merits and the only thing that matters is what you prefer. Nice creasing regardless.

I asked my daughter to take a couple photos of me in the re-bashed Comos. The first two photos are with the original center crease. I did not like the taper along the sides or front and back. The third and fourth photos are of the newly bashed Comos with tear drop crease. The brims got a bit wonky but I'll fix that.

Maybe a bit extreme, but the Como with the center crease made me feel like a member of the conehead family from the '70s Saturday Night Live show.

Center crease - too much taper

Another center crease photo - and again too much taper

Teardrop - far less taper

Teardrop - again far less taper

Malvalous. What can we do to help solve your photo posting problems, Robert?

Contemporary crushable, after three hours absorbing the contents of London's Natural History Museum. Superb weather here now, and so much to see and do that a fella really needs a clone or two.

Randall - It's a few years since I did the Natural History museum. One thing with London is it's not short of Museums and galleries. Nice Borso.

Nice stingy!
+1 - and aware of MoK's collection of stingy classics, I must say: You don't get a more competent judgement ;)

Robert: Beautiful lid! I love the brim treatment and would really like to feel the felt. Looks gorgeous!

Andy: I'm absolutely with you ... teardrop, C-crown or diamond are your creases. I'm a slim egg myself (sorry to drag you into this ... hehe), and I also prefer the wider creases. My own physiognomy is only compatible with very few crown silhouettes, creased with a center crease.

Borsalino Gorasgu - palladio

My recent five dollar flea market Borso after a bit of steam and crease. This hat has undergone some after factory modifications - whether by the Kleinhans (which was one of the largest mens stores in the country at one time) or by a hat shop... not sure. The sweatband has no Borso imprint and is attached with a fabric reed. It is a little slapdash, as you can see by the rear seam and stapled sweatband bow. From the label, it appears the hat originally came with a black ribbon and bow. There are also some fun clues on the owner, whose International Photo Engravers Union card was tucked under the sweat. His address is written in pencil on the back - a house number that seems to have been under his ownership for many years prior to the vintage of this hat, which is likely c. 1950.

Alan, really nice hat and clues, I imagine the $5 is all but forgotten except for bragging rights :) I have a borsy from Kleinhans as well although not as nice.

BTW, I hope this new look FL is only temporary from the hacking attack. It's not very user friendly.

Thanks Mike and Richard... yes the price is fun for me to repeat. My hat invoices range from smiles to gulps but I don't believe I've ever gotten something this nice for this little. I would normally haggle a bit but I didn't at all on this purchase.

Hats with the Kleinhans imprint appear often. I have several and many others have been posted to the lounge. It was an impressive store and a sad loss when it closed. We still have the Kleinhans family legacy in our landscape from the Saarinen designed music hall that they helped to finance...
