So while wandering around The 1940's Society website I came across this book:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/1940s-Look-...3786369?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1178394299&sr=8-1

The 1940s Look by Mike Brown. It seems to be a UK only book as I couldn't find it on US Amazon. I'd like to buy it but I don't want to end up paying for another book like Daniela Turudich's...mostly useless/not very helpful for me.

Do any of you ladies own this book or have you read/browsed this book?
Any reviews would be helpful, especially if you are familiar with Daniela's books.
It seems a tad pricey (over $30 US) so just wanting to know if it's worth it or not.

thanks ladies!

I too want that book but like you said, it's only available in the UK. Some sellers do sell it on eBay, but it goes for a lot of dough.

Um...
You can buy off of Amazon UK just fine with a Visa or MC. There is automatic currency conversion. I do it all the time.

I know that ;)

I just wanted to get some more feedback/reviews/thoughts on the book than just what's on Amazon before I spend that sort of money...

I have it - It's a fabulous reference book about the clothes, shoes hairstyles, accessories and beauty routines of the time. Well mostly in the UK, but still really interesting. No instructions on how to do any of the styles or anything, but plenty of inspiration. It's a really lovely little book, loads of quotes from ladies' magazines, bits about men's and children's wear too.

I also recommend it, so much so that when I read it, while in a hosptial waiting area, I read the book cover to cover, That when I got home that night I looked at the bedroom curtains and thought I must put up my blackout material. Whoops,:eusa_doh: wrong decade, but. thats how much I got into it.
