I am quite an avid player of Texas Hold 'Em and was wondering how many other players play.

I don't play online but play with a group of around 7 others and occasionally in the odd pub and public tournaments.

Must be a few other Loungers who partake.

All in...

I usually play online poker for a little while each night while my wife and daughter are watching their reality shows. The PC is in the family room with the TV so its convenient. I play Texas Hold 'em for fun unles I have more time, then I'll play a cash tournament and I've done pretty well (so far).
Try Omaha Hi too. There's much more action than Texas Hold 'em.

I'm a semi-professional poker player [1]. I play mostly live, but I'll mess around with online games from time to time (actually playing online right now).

I've played in the World Series the last four years with pretty decent results.

[1] I define myself this way since about 50% of my income comes from poker. For the purposes of the IRS I am a professional.

My hat goes off to those who are able to make a living from poker, I don't think I'd have the nerves for it.

I played the night before last and hit the best hand I have had in years, quad aces. I was pretty pleased as I slow played it and by the river another chap had hit a house. Needless to say I won a ton of chips on the hand :D

Nice one, sounds like a great to earn a living. Do you play tournaments or at casinos mostly?

In Australia the tax department generally don't recognise gambling income. The main reason is that losses can also be used to reduce income, I believe
