Just want to pick your brains on this.
Has anyone else come across a B-3 or similar jacket where the outer leather surface seems to lightly adhere to other leather surfaces , including other parts of the jacket ?
Doesn't stick or cause any damage , just peels away like a post-it note .
If so did anyone manage to fix it ?
thanks in advance
Egg.

Some well meaning person has probably treated the jacket with Pecards or other grease. I once bought a RMNZ M445 that was covered in a white film of old leather dressing. I never did get all of it off but removed most of it with paraffin and meths.
Dr H is the resident chemist so he will be able to help.

My bad.
Forgot to mention that this was a brand new jacket from a manufacturer well-known to members of this forum ,
so I doubt if it received any extra treatment.

I haven't noticed that with my B-3's, but my D-1's and B-6's do on occasion. I notice it most when stored in a drawer or footlocker.
Your description of it similar to a 'Post-It' note is accurate. The sleeve will 'peel away' from the body.
I have just used a bit of soap n' water wipe down. It seems to take care of it right away. I'm trying to avoid any coating of a mink oil to avoid the sheen on the acrylic finish.
When hung I haven't noticed the issue. Must have something to do with the higher summer humidities and the jacket coming in contact for a period of time with itself.
Since it hasn't caused any damage to the jacket's finish, it's just a mild annoyance. Like the velcro sealed pockets on my ACU's!

Hi Eggleman ,
This is quite normal although i can't explain why it happens . We avoid using coat hangers on sheepkins ( as should you ) to avoid stretching across the shoulders so when jackets are finished they are laid out flat . We find that if 2 are laid flat when removing the top one they do tend to "stick " .Like you say it causes no damage . This effect does disappear through wear .

Yes this happened to a friends Eastman B3 and his ANJ4. They were not worn but stored flat on top of each other. The dark outer peeled off and left the lighter raw skin showing, not everywhere but just where they touched in certain places. Just as Mr Hide n Seek describes.
I 'fixed it' with careful application of a shoe scuff treatment for heels. Mixed brown with black till it matched the seal brown, applied with a small paintbrush, then rubbed any surplus away. Unnoticeable. Sold it on eBay and no complaints so it must have been ok.
