Swedish Wool Combat Pant: sizes for waist.

I have a question about this kind of pants. i use a 36´´ of levis 501 (loose fit) and i am searching a 36 or a 38. A 38 (waist 38´´) its no easy to find but somewhere in a forum a guy said it could be oversized or too bulky. A 36 could be enough for me?.

note: Im a proudly propietary of a Swedish army jacket and size 104 (42´´ chest) fits perfect for me like a LARGE size jacket.
